Jaws Ripoffs
Steven Spielberg’s Jaws inspired terror…and a slew of half-assed copycat films. None of these movies strike me as worthwhile, but their posters - usually featuring sharks and other sea creatures attacking swimmers from below - do inspire a certain fascination. Here are 28 of the silliest, strangest and most epic scenes of aquatic mayhem from the ’70s and ’80s.

John Huston? Shelly Winters? Henry Fonda? Why? Whyyyyy?

James Cameron’s finest hour.

Wow, it was nice of them to give that woman from the Piranha poster another chance.

I’ll admit, that one is actually pretty scary.

With something like that I would have white wine, I think.

Ouch.

“It waits underwater…to skin you alive!” Lolwut?

And finally, the traditional narrative is subverted. Here we see humans swimming up to attack a shark, rather than the other way around. The implications are far-reaching, as we are forced to question our most basic shark movie assumptions.
